Athlete Jason West launches the Fantasy Ridge cliffs at Solitude Ski resort. This image was captured on Day 1 of the 2010 Salt Lake Shootout in Utah and was literally the first action shot I took of the competition. As luck would have it, the photograph won both 1st place in the air category as well as the "Best of Show" award.

Athlete Andy Jacobsen hiking into the backcountry near Brighton Ski resort to ski the Pioneer ridge. The conditions on day 2 of the competition deteriorated to high winds, snow and flat light. Creating photographs that revealed something dynamic for the SLC shootout was the goal. A variation of this image was submitted to the Mountain Lifestyle category at the end of the week.
